Discussion: Handout Mode

Can we make the current behaviour of the theme in handout mode optional? I.e. selectable via \pgfkeys or package option?

I'm using handout mode frequently (to provide a less-overlayed version of my slide) but do not want to print two slides on A4 document. In my opinion, the latter is print pre-processing and has nothing to do with giving a handout version of slides, per se.

If you agree, I can gladly implement a PGF key for it.
