GLOFI provides a toolbox for the generation of large-scale backgrounds from, e.g., temperature observations for the scale separation of gravity waves and global-scale waves in the measurements. The toolbox includes scripts for extracting planetary wave and tide spectra from satellite orbit data and allows for time-dependent reconstruction of background fields.
